Fakta Gebe/ the facts of Gebe

Pulau Gebe adalah suatu pulau  terletak di bagian paling timur Kepulauan Halmahera yang  berbatasan langsung  dengan Propinsi Papua. Dicek di Google earth dapat koordinat ini: 0^o07’27.63’’S   129^o30’30.56’’E yang menunjukkan letaknya yang dekat ekuator. Gampangannya lihat gambar ini :

Gebe is a group of islands placed at east side of Halmahera archipelago directly bordered with west Papua Province. The coordinate we found at google earth are : 0^o07’27.63’’S   129^o30’30.56’’E which are show that this island is hot……… equator hot, you can see down here about where the island is :

 

Gebe termasuk dalam wilayah Kabupaten Halmahera Tengah propinsi Maluku Utara. Pada tahun 2001 pulau ini dibentuk secara definitif sebagai ibukota kecamatan yakni kecamatan Gebe, mengingat populasinya meledak sejak booming Nikel pad masa itu . Secara administratif Pulau Gebe 45 Km dan lebarnya bervariasi antara 1 km sampai 7 km atau diambil dari rata – rata 4 km , sedangkan luasnya 150 km2. Penduduknya saai ini berjumlah sekitar 5.580 orang yang mendiami empat desa, yaitu Desa Kapaleo sebagai Ibu Kota Kecamatan, Desa Kacepi, Desa Sanafi (Mamin), dan Desa Umera serta satu desa lagi yang masih dalam wilayah kecamatan Pulau Gebe tapi tidak berada di daratan Pulau Gebe, tapi berada di Pulau Yoi yaitu Desa Umyal. Penduduk Gebe utamanya desa Kapaleo didiami oleh berbagai suku antara lain Jawa, Bugis, Cina, Papua, dan tentu saja orang Maluku sendiri. 

Gebe district is in area of central Halmahera, North Molluca province. In 2001 this archipelago was definitively formed as Gebe district which Gebe Island as the district capital. This was happen because of highly increased population since nickel booming at that time. Administratively Gebe is 45 km long and 1-7km wide. All total area is 150km² . Nowdays the population is only about 5.580 people live in 5 villages Desa Kapaleo sebagai Ibu Kota Kecamatan, Desa Kacepi, Desa Sanafi (Mamin), and Desa Umera on Gebe Island and one village on yoi Island which is called Desa Umyal. People of Gebe Island especially those are live in Desa Kapaleo is come from many tribes Jawa, Bugis, Cina, Papua, and of course people of Molluca themself.

Populasi yang sebagian diisi para pendatang inilah yang kemungkinan membuat Gebe bebas konflik pada masa kerusuhan beberapa waktu lalu.. atau memang karakter penduduk  asli Maluku yang cinta damai, terbukti ternyata sangat banyak wilayah Maluku yang tenang saat kerusuhan, ini yang membuat banyak orang non- Maluku betah tinggal di Maluku. Termasuk saya, maaf terutama saya:) 

Population which is partly filled by people from out of Gebe that possibly makes Gebe free of conflict many times erlier, or. .is it the peace lover character of native molluca tribes? Because it’s proven that many area of Molluca (most area) free of conflict during chaos in 1999. this makes a lot of non-Molluca people love to live there, including me, excuse me _ especially me:)
